The Las Nubes Student Association (LNSA) is an organized student group at York University, whose mission is to support tropical conservation, protect ecosystem integrity, support local Costa Rican communities, and student environmental initiatives within and beyond the York University community.
The LNSA believes that there must be a multidisciplinary approach to bring about positive environmental change and awareness within the academic community. Through student leaders and environmental ambassadors, geography will not be a limitation in the collaboration of conservation efforts between Costa Rica and Canada.
The LNSA strives to enhance the awareness of the York University community of the fair trade, no sweat Las Nubes coffee option on campus and at participating Timothy’s coffee shops.
The goals of the LNSA are to encourage conscious purchasing and consumption practices at York campus sites, and at home. We seek to help maintain the university’s recent commitment to a ‘sweat-free’ campus.
One of the Association’s most recent and noteworthy accomplishments include raising $5,000 (in 5 months) to fund a community library in Santa Elena, Costa Rica.
